Jennifer Gwinnup (b. Flint, Michigan, 1977) is an artist and educator based in West Michigan whose work explores spirituality through the lens of a woman who prioritizes authenticity and truth. In 2016 she created The Chalkboard Project™ and has photographed thousands of people for interactive art installations that demonstrate the impact words have on communities.
When painting, she primarily expresses herself through mixed media encaustic work, embedding abstracted photographs under layers of wax, resin and paint. Her practice has become an integral part of her faith journey, serving as a vehicle for processing concepts like feminism, identity and pain.
Jennifer holds a BFA in Graphic Design and a Masters in Education from Grand Valley State University and is currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts at the Savannah College of Art and Design.
